About the Tennyson PAC - What we do and who are on the Executive Committee
The School Act gives parents the right, through Parent Advisory Councils (PACs), to assume an advisory role in every school. You automatically become a member of the Lord Tennyson PAC when your child enrolls at the school. A PAC Executive Team, which meets once a month (the hour before the general PAC meeting), provides leadership for PAC initiatives and discussions, and manages the Council's affairs between general meetings.
Being involved at Tennyson should be a rewarding and enjoyable experience not to mention an opportunity to meet other parents while being involved in an activity that ultimately benefits our students. All Tennyson parents are welcome and encouraged to find ways to use your skills, talents and interests to enhance the Tennyson experience. Perhaps you want to:

What does the Tennyson PAC do?
The Tennyson PAC's job is to support, encourage and continuously improve the elementary school experience for Tennyson students. PAC activities include:
- holding regular meetings (this year it's the third Monday of the month) where you can gain a greater understanding of the school and have your say about things happening there;
- supporting various extracurricular activities: e.g., Noon Hour Programs ;
- supporting specialty programs: e.g., English Reading/French Peer Tutoring Program, Fruit & Veggie Program, Fine Arts Program;
- coordinating special events: e.g., Halloween Howl and Spring Fling;
- bringing in external speakers to keep families informed on current trends, issues, and questions related to our children, their development, and what is happening at Tennyson; and,
- fundraising to provide additional programs and educational resources beyond those provided by the VSB and government. Our Annual Kick-Start appeal is an opportunity for families to help financially support the diverse activities of the PAC. Events such as the French and English Book Fairs and Spell-a-thon/Math-a-thon are also critical to the annual fundraising efforts of the PAC.
