PAC Fundraising

Public funds cover basic education at Lord Tennyson. However, a key role of PAC is to provide additional programs and educational resources beyond those provided by the VSB and government in order to significantly enhance the educational experience provided to our children.
Over the next few years, our big focus will be to raise $100,000+ to help replace playground equipment after a new school is built. Here is the 2021/22 PAC Budget
Description of budget lines
Where Do The Funds Go?
As outlined in our annual PAC budget (which is voted on at the AGM), funds raised by PAC are invested in variety of ways including:
  • Arts and cultural programs - e.g. in-school music & theatre performances, artist in residence (including school mural)
  • Sports equipment and fitness programs - e.g. team jerseys, gym equipment
  • Technology resources - e.g. computer lab, LCD projectors in every classroom, Smartboards, mobile computers, iPads
  • Science - e.g. science "bins" to assist with various learning modules
  • PAC Speakers Series - paid speakers at about half of the PAC meetings. Suggestion for a speaker or topic? Please email  pac.speakers@lordtennyson.ca
  • Yearly Teachers' Funds - to augment classroom resources
  • Bursaries - for noon hour and after school programs
  • Peer Tutoring program
  • Field and Playground Improvement committee
Cobs Bread: Thank you to Tennyson parent Lisa for registering Tennyson in the Cobs Bread Dough Raiser Program. If you are ever shopping at Cobs Bread (2837 W Broadway or 2320 West 4th), mention that you would like your purchases to go towards Lord Tennyson Elementary ... we get 5% rebated to us! And tell your friends and family too please.

Mabel's Labels: A Lord Tennyson Elementary School account has been set up with Mabel's Labels so every time you buy anything from them 20% of the proceeds will go to the Tennyson PAC. Simply visit the website's campaigns.mabelslabels.com page and look for Lord Tennyson Elementary School in the school/organization drop down menu. Thanks Jennifer Heath for setting this up.

Direct Donations to PAC

Each fall, the PAC runs the "Kick-Start" Donations program, a direct appeal fundraiser to Tennyson families. Raising significant funds at the beginning of the year allows the PAC to plan and reduce the required fundraising activities throughout the year. However, you can donate online throughout the year and will receive a tax receipt issued by the VSB.

Why Direct Donations?
There are a number of advantages to cash donations to PAC:
  • The more funds we raise through Direct Donation, the less we have to fundraise
  • 100% of donations can be applied to PAC programs, as opposed to a percentage of product sales used in fundraising
  • Donations are strictly voluntary and confidential
  • There is no maximum or minimum donation
  • Charitable tax receipts will be issued by the Vancouver School Board for donations over $10. See the VSB Donation Policy here.

If you are considering making a major donation ($2000 or greater) please contact the PAC Treasurer or PAC Chair to discuss how we can facilitate.
