Please join us at the PAC meeting on Thursday, March 10 at 7pm. After the brief meeting, we will have a parent speaker:
Truths and Myths about Childhood Nutrition A presentation focusing on the most common childhood nutrition challenges (no, it is not vegetables!) for kids and parents. Among them:
Please see the attached notice from the City of Vancouver regarding street and parking changes around Tennyson starting in March 2016.
Here is the document describing the changes. Spring Break is a time for kids to be kids! It’s a chance to play, to run, and to be free from the busy school schedule. That’s why the YMCA offers day camps, so that every child can reach their full potential. From out-trips and theme days to sports and games, we have something for everyone. We hope you’ll join us!
Check out everything we have to offer online at www.vanymca.org/daycamps or visit www.myymca.ca to register. Thanks to Tennyson dad Mark for the blog entry ... A couple of photos from today's Tennyson Tigers Grade 6/7 basketball game. The Tigers were handed their first defeat of the season (19-63) by a feisty Edith Cavell team in what proved to be a highly physical game replete with plenty of fouls, falls and frustration. The ball simply refused to nestle into the basket for our boys today and the rebounds were scooped up and capitalized upon by a taller home team. In keeping with the somewhat dark après-game mood evident on the Tigers' bench, today's photos are rendered in somber grey tones as we mourn a winning streak cut short in its prime... Please see the attached poster for information on resiliency in the classroom, presented by Dr. Sam Goldstein, psychologist.
This is event will be held at the Jewish Community Centre. He will be doing a teacher presentation on Sunday, February 25 from 5-6. A parent presentation will be done at 7 pm. I am in the High School Marketing Leadership Program through Create Change. Create Change is a Vancouver based NGO that helps impact girls and their ability to go to school. Our task this term is to sell Valentine's Day cards. See photo below. We are selling them now and up until February 14th, you can buy a pack of 6 for $5, 12 for $10, or 25 for $20. 100% of the profits donated is going towards girl's education in Ghana. It's only $300/year ($25/month) per student and it covers her schools fees, supplies, food, accommodation, and career/emotional guidance. The team will be selling cards in the Tennyson lobby this Friday, Feb 5 and Wednesday, Feb 10 after school (starting at 2:45). Please come check them out and support this great initiative! People can choose to either buy our Valentine's Day cards or make a donation. 100% of the donation goes to supporting girls living in poverty. Create Change believes that empowering girls is the most powerful tool to affect change in communities that are currently living in poverty. These girls are currently living in such dire circumstances and are very subjected to vulnerability. When girls have access to quality education, everything begins to change. If you have any questions, feel free to read the FAQ section on Create Change's website, or email me (Catherine) directly - [email protected] http://createchangenow.ca T.O.S.S.
