The City of Vancouver hosted a 10th Avenue Improvement Plan Open House at Kitsilano Community Centre on February 7. If you didn't get a chance to go along don't worry, you can view the display boards here and can submit your feedback with their online survey (Survey closes Feb 28). The key objectives as listed on their website are:
Today we had a large number of students who expected to have hot lunch, but had not ordered for the new session. Luckily, parent volunteers were able to share some extra pizza around to feed all the hungry kids.
Ask your child if they were missing pizza today. If they were, you probably haven't ordered for the new session. If you are uncertain, log on to the Munchalunch site to confirm your order and/or submit an order for the new session. Please be reminded that if you do not receive a Munchalunch email reminder the day before Sushi and Pizza lunches, your child will not be receiving that day's hot lunch. Orders need to be placed 6 days in advance. However, we have held Monday, Feb 11th's lunch ordering open until tomorrow (Thursday) at 11:59pm (almost midnight). If you missed ordering for the new session and want sushi lunch this coming Monday, please order before then. Sushi lunch is much harder to share around than pizza and we don't want any hungry kids Monday! A French speaking mom from Tennyson is starting a tutoring group on Mondays or Wednesdays after school between 3 and 5.30 pm. She is targeting grade 1-3.
Are you looking for someone to help your child with reading, writing and dictee? Or do you need someone to look after your child once a week and do their homework? This could be a good fit for you! Email for more info. Partners for inclusive education is a social-educational meeting for parents and caregivers of children at Lord Tennyson School. The goals for this group are support of inclusion and diversity at Lord Tennyson Elementary School.
The meetings provide a safe and confidential place for open conversations and sharing of personal stories with other parents/caregivers who have lived experiences with meeting the educational needs of students at Tennyson. We discuss both current students experiences, and how past students and caregivers are now supported (both at the school and with other outside sources i.e., tutoring, coaching, a wide variety of therapeutic modalities, Psych-Ed assessments, other forms of assessment, support agencies in the broader community, and more). Parenting peer support is available to help parents and caregivers manage relationships between various school and home-based teams, including relationships in our parenting community. Also, we often eat pie FEBRUARY 15TH PRO-D DAY Sports Clinics
