IEPs, Designations, Special Needs? Join our parent support group.

5/21/2016

Does your child have special needs and is a student at Lord Tennyson?

A small group of parents to kids with special needs at Lord Tennyson have decided to start a parent support group.  It is a private initiative, but has the blessing of Madame Alain. The group will have a few gatherings every semester and function as a private network, for exchange of personal experiences and knowledge.

The path of a parent to a child with special needs can be a lonely one. If you want company, please join us. Email us at  [email protected]  for more information.

A Tennyson student is a Chess Champion!

5/17/2016

Did you know that our Lord Tennyson Kindergarten student Codrin Pompas is a chess champion? He was the winner, in   his age group, of the BC Chess Challenge competition held in February, and last weekend he successfully contributed to the BC team victory in the traditional annual British Columbia vs Washington State International Scholastic  Chess  Match (Intermat).
More info and a photo gallery from the last event can be found in the link below:  http://chess2inspire.ca/Chess2Inspire/2016-intermat

Congratulations Codrin! Tennyson is proud of you!

Track & Field Info - week of May 16

5/15/2016

Here are two notices with the details for the track and field mini meets this week.  Thanks to Nadine Sparks for taking the time to write them out!  And for helping the entire division get the information at the meets.
Wed, May 18 Mini Meet (Gr 3-5)

Mon, May 16 Mini Meet (Gr 6/7)

We still have our fabulous Tennyson Tigers Athletics t-shirts available in all sizes, including adult small, medium, large and extra-large -- thanks to XC coach extraordinaire, Chris Fuoco.  All t-shirts are $20 cash or cheque, payable to Lord Tennyson Elementary School.  Imagine how happy and supported your Tiger will feel with their parent wearing a fantastic Tiger shirt too!

Please ensure that you have filled out both a registration form, as well as a meet attendance permission form.  We have received far more meet forms than registration forms, and we need both at this time.  Additionally, please read the forms carefully when you fill them out and ensure you actually sign off on the boxes that state that you give you child permission to attend their individual meet.  Do not sign off on all of the meets unless you want your child to attend all six (most athletes will only be competing in their grade division, i.e., Juniors grades 3-5, which would be a total of three).

As always, Tennyson parents are expected by the VSB division coordinator to volunteer at the mini and final meets running the long jump event.  Please contact Jacqueline Crummey ([email protected]) for details if you are available to help and are unfamiliar with these duties.  The more people who assist, the shorter the shifts will be.

The team still needs adult volunteers to do the following: coordinate the final meet for the Junior-X team (grades K-2 the ribbons have already been made, thanks to Barbara Arenson), organize awards for the graduating seniors, and coordinate a season wrap-up potluck picnic supper or other fun year-end social activity.  Any and all assistance is much appreciated! The more help, the better; the simpler and easier the work to be done😀.

Many thanks to all of you who are already assisting the team by coaching, herding, encouraging and cheering, coordinating rides, bringing snacks, doing data-entry, and have run long-jump at previous track meets.  Our kids couldn't have this team without you!
