École Lord Tennyson is celebrating Bike to School Week from June 1st - 5th! We’re encouraging students and families to use active transportation for their trips to school all week - walking, biking, scootering, skateboarding, and using mobility aids all help reduce emissions and help students arrive at school energized and ready to learn.
There will be daily prizes and a final draw on Friday. Also, the class with the most participation will get a freezie party!! If your child is coming by bike or scooter, please bring a lock. The bike racks fill up quickly so you can lock your bike to the fences around the school. Tables will be set-up in the courtyard from 8:40am - 9:00am every day with snacks, sign-in, and prize draw tickets. We will need volunteers each day to help prepare the snacks, set-up, and help with sign-in. The total time required is 8:30-9:15. Find the link for volunteer sign-up and the school's weekly newsletter (the WAAG). Many of you will recognize HUB Cycling from their visits to our school, where they provide the expert bike safety training our students use every day. We are happy to share that they are bringing that same trusted instruction to their Everyone Rides: Kids Bike Camps this summer!
As the most trusted bike educators in BC for over 15 years, HUB’s certified instructors help children (ages 9–12) develop real-world skills and road safety awareness in a fun, supportive environment.
FCRCC offers full-day paddling camps at Granville Island where kids can try kayaking, canoeing, dragon boat, and outrigger in a safe and supportive environment.
No experience needed Focus on water safety, confidence & teamwork Full-day camps at pricing often comparable to half-day programs Led by experienced, certified coaches A great option for kids who enjoy being outdoors, active, and trying something new. REGISTER TODAY 4‑H BC, in partnership with BC Dairy, is excited to continue this fun collaboration by offering another 4‑H @ Home course—an innovative online initiative that invites youth across the province to engage in hands‑on learning experiences from the comfort of their homes. This program is an excellent opportunity for young people aged 9 to 15 to explore the vibrant world of 4‑H, even if there is no active 4‑H club nearby.
The 4-H @ Home Discover Diary project starts May 20th and runs 6 consecutive Wednesday evenings at 4:00. Thanks to the generous support of BC Dairy, participation in this project is free! The class size is limited, so interested participants are encouraged to register soon. The Discover Dairy project will take participants on a journey through the complete dairy cycle. Participants will have the unique opportunity to meet real dairy farmers, learn about essential cow care practices, understand how milk travels from farm to fridge, and even dive into the basics of cheese tasting and more! **Who Should Join?** The Discover Dairy project is perfect for youth aged 9 – 15 who are curious about farm life in BC, and how our food makes its way from the farm to our tables. No cow or prior knowledge is required—just a passion for learning and exploration! My name is Ahmed Rahim, and I’m a certified teacher with experience running a district gifted program in Vancouver and working with students from Grades 3–12. I’m reaching out to share a unique summer camp opportunity that may be a great fit for interested students in your school community.
This summer, I’m running a 5-day “Choose-Your-Own-Adventure Strategy Camp” for students entering Grades 5–8 in September. Historia is a face-to-face game (no passive screen time) in which students work in teams to build and run their own civilization—making decisions that shape their success, forming alliances, managing resources, and working through real challenges together. Every decision matters—and helps students build confidence, collaboration skills, independent thinking, and leadership. Program Details:
