The goal of this program is to introduce kids to the sport of canoeing and kayaking and to develop fitness and skills. They will even have opportunities to try outrigger. During the July and Aug months, the kids also have the opportunity to paddle twice a day in a variety of boats and even participate in some fun regattas! We have over 40 kids in this program and currently looking for some new paddlers to join us this month! Learn more here: Full Season Youth Program Browse Our Programs Oh there will be tears of joy next Thursday when the reminder email comes in from Munchalunch with the Sports Day lunch reminder. Parents will be dancing a jig in their kitchens on Friday morning ... congratulating themselves for pre-ordering their child's Sports Day lunch. It will make the frantic struggles to find an appropriately coloured outfit for their child's Sports Day Colour so much more bearable!
Get your ordering details here. Don't delay, order today (or at least by Sunday). Thank you to Quebec 2019 for organizing the lunch! Lord Tennyson Elementary School had a great showing at the RBC Race for the Kids on Sunday. We had 38 registered runners on the Tennyson Tiger team and many more supporters who came out to cheer us on and enjoy the fun day! Collectively, the RBC Race for the Kids, raised $1 million dollars for BC Children's Hospital and we could not have done this without the support of the runners, and family and friends who supported us! A reminder for all registered runner to gather and submit your donations so we can put a final tally to Tennyson's contribution. Thank you for supporting such a great cause for BC Kids! Some photos from the day: Wow, what a great Bike to School Week! Even with the rain this week Lord Tennyson Elementary School managed to fill all our bike racks everyday and most days the back fence was full with bikes. Our community has a lot to be proud of and many to thank for such a great event. We had a total of 598 students and staff ride their bikes during bike to school week! We had lots of students that walked, used transit or rode their scooters signing in everyday as well. The winning division with the most riders for the week was Division 3, Mme Lapierre with a total of 60 riders. It was a close ride/race between second and third place. Division 12, Mme Simone class had 44 riders for the week coming in second place and third place was Division 10, M. Brian class with 41 riders for the week. The week started with fresh fruit on Monday graciously donated by Greens Organic + Natural Market. On Tuesday afternoon two cycling courses were set up on the school field. Even with the rain pouring down on them, numerous students challenged themselves on the bike courses. The students were rewarded with healthy fruit provided by Green’s Organic + Natural Market again, and HUB. PedalHeads was also there giving out bike bells. On Friday we completed the week with a big celebration bikers' breakfast. Fresh fruit, mini muffins, fresh squeezed juice and coffee were all generously donated by Loblaws City Market (Arbutus and 16th Ave). The best part was that Loblaw’s served up everything so that everyone at Tennyson could enjoy themselves. Please be sure to thank all these businesses the next time you visit their establishments. All of this could not have happened without the help of our many parent and student volunteers including: Parents: Students: Amber Ridington Sebastian Ridington Tai Scott Mia Rafii Dreama Lee Stella Lee Donalyn Simpson Sebastian Lee Nana Yenson Abby Yenson Jackie Corlett Adam Yenson Karen Davies Emily Corlett Barbara Anderson Annabel Corlett Connie Lee Jensen Sellgren Neno Stjepovic Tracey Shaw Overall it was a great success at Lord Tennyson for our third year participating in Bike to School Week. Thank you to everyone who contributed time and food or drinks to the Staff Appreciation Lunch. And a huge thank you to Barbara for organizing it. The staff was VERY appreciative and had a lovely opportunity to eat lunch together. Hello Tennyson parent volunteers.
The Tennyson staff would like to invite parents who have volunteered this year (in any way!), to the Parent Volunteer Tea on Thursday, June 15 from 2pm - 3pm in the library. Please RSVP to Mme Megan by June 11. |
