Vancouver Extra-curricular Music Society (VEMS) is is running GROUP GUITAR LESSONS after school on Thursdays. Guitars are provided by the school and available to sign out for home practice for a small deposit (bursaries available through VEMS to cover the deposit if needed). This program is available to Tennyson students only. Check out the instructor bio below and come and check it out. The group is accepting new registrations until October 23rd and anyone interested can join a trial session for free before committing during that time. Meet the instructor! "Mr. Sung” is a dedicated guitar instructor with a Master’s in Improvisation from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor’s in Guitar Performance. He is committed to fostering students’ development in musicianship and creativity through a fun and supportive environment. He loves playing jazz, blues, rock, pop, funk, and more.
Day for the Week: Fridays after school Dates: Oct 3 - Dec 12 (9 sessions total - no class on Pro-D Days Oct 24 or Nov 21) Time: 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM COST: $280 + GST Come explore the power of strategic thinking through fun, engaging, hands-on and strategy-based board-games such as Chess, Mastermind, Blokus, Chinese Checkers, Match Madness, Codenames and many more. Enroll your child in this screen-free class that encourages critical thinking and problem-solving. In this adventure, students will learn the importance of planning, making thoughtful choices and understanding the reasons behind their decisions while playing games and having fun. The program will focus on teaching kids new board-games, strategic foundations, skill development and game strategy improvement. When playing chess, the focus will be on learning piece functions, openings, endgame tactics, variations and puzzles (depending on the skill level). Curriculum

This free group is designed to support Mandarin-speaking parents of children and youth (ages 6–19), offering a space for learning, sharing, and mutual support.  Learn to cook healthy, affordable meals, build kitchen confidence, and share food together as a family. Child minding availble.  A free, fun and supportive space for elementary school girls and gender diverse youth to build confidence, problem-solving skills, and discover the power of math in everyday life.  Youth in grades 6 and 7 are welcome to drop in to the Kitsilano Community Center for free every Saturday from 3:30-5:30 for basketball and badminton :) From September until Dec 20, with no open gym Oct 11.
