Tigers Take Over Vanier Park Meet

10/15/2012

Holy Tiger!  Does a little rain affect how tigers run?  Yes ... it makes them faster.

Many personal bests were attained at today's meet.  We had 62 orange Tennyson Tigers running today and, every run was a highlight, but here are the top placed finishes:
  • Gr 1 boys - Dryden Fuoco (12th)
  • Gr 1 girls - Ellie Botham (3rd), Rachel Rallison (7th), Piper Wuerr (8th), Beatrice Shaw (11th)
  • Gr 2 boys - Jonah Lazar (13th), Luke Cairns (14th)
  • Gr 3 girls - Lily Smetzer (2nd ... she was 1st until the last second), Miki Miyake (4th), Amanda Lindsay (5th), Isabel Laurenciano-McKinnon (10th), Astrid Wuerr (12th)
  • Gr 4 boys - Gareth Dunbar (13th)
  • Gr 4 girls - Sophia Bertuzzi Samilski (3rd)
  • Gr 5 boys - Ben Cook (4th). Also, a personal best for Wilson Whitlock who placed 16th (one spot out of a "ribbon" finish).
  • Gr 5 girls - Stephanie Ross (8th), Lila Crawford (9th), Ella Goldman (15th)
  • Gr 6 girls - Julia Ionica (7th), Isabel Shaw (13th), Jasmine Brossard (15th)

Congratulations to EVERY tiger who ran and thanks to all the cheering parents and siblings.  You all make the Tennyson community proud.

Send Us Your Art!

10/11/2012

Art of the Week needs art!

Heck, we'll take poems, photos of costumes, you name it. Our bar is very low (and our backlog of art is down to zero) so don't worry about having to send us the work of the next Rembrandt. We'll accept pretty much anything!

Just snap a pic on your smartphone (or old fashioned digital camera - sorry Sue, we don't take film) and send to [email protected].

If we don't get any new art, we'll just have to keep posting our own kids' artwork... you've been warned.

Cross-Country Team Shines at Jericho Mini Meet

10/10/2012

Wow Tigers!  What a meet!  Lily Smetzer, Sophia Bertuzzi-Samilski, and Ben Cook all had fourth place finishes in their respective grades!  Quite an accomplishment with nearly a hundred kids running for each grade.

Other top finishers in their grades were Emma Mulligan-Jones (6th), Julia Ionica (6th),  Ellie Botham (8th), Lila Crawford (8th), Miki Miyake (9th), Amanda Lindsay (10th), Piper Wuerr (10th), and Stephanie Ross (12th).

Congratulations to everyone who participated ... way to go Tigers!

Cross Country Tigers Star at First Mini-Meet

10/4/2012

The cross country season kicked off Thursday afternoon with a mini-meet at Camosun Park.

All the Tigers were awesome and looked great in their new team uniform (thanks Chris).

A big congratulations to Lily Smetzer who placed 3rd for the Grade 3 girls. Other top finishers were Sophia Samilski, Dominik Barna, Julia Ionica and Lila Crawford. (If we missed anyone, please let us know at [email protected]!)
The next mini-meet will be held on Wednesday, October 10  at Jericho West Park.

Go Tigers Go!

Online Auction Closes

10/4/2012

Picture
Our first online auction finished up tonight and was a lot of fun for everyone who participated and was a success.

We're planning to hold another online auction later this year, so please think about any cool items or services you might be able to contribute.

The Quebec 2014 team would like to thank everyone who bid, donated items and helped out - and especially Bruce White for organizing.

PS: Max B won the cookies and is very excited...! They do look yummy.

The first batch of Cross-Country Team shirts are here, just in time for tomorrow's mini-meet at Camosun Park.

The kids look good in their new gear, but will look even better when their matching bright orange socks arrive! Stay tuned for pictures of the complete look...
