Parking Survey

12/8/2012

You should receive this email from your class parent regarding a parking survey, but just in case you missed it, here are the links:
  • Survey for non-driving families
  • Survey for driving families

And here's the letter:
Hello All Tennyson Parents,

Many parents are aware that, as a French Immersion School, Tennyson has a large catchment area. As a result, our families walk, bike, take public transit and drive to our school daily. With a student population of 400+, the logistics of daily drop off and pick up at our school is of interest to many parents.

The PAC Parking Committee has previously surveyed our parent body and, based on information obtained, met with City officials during the past year to discuss and consider ways to improve the traffic and parking congestion around our school, particularly at peak drop off and pick-up times. As a result, some changes have been made to various parking regulations around our school.

Parents continue to voice a desire to further consider ways to reduce traffic and parking congestion and facilitate safe drop off and pick up of children. We are therefore seeking additional feedback from our entire parent body to better understand how you are affected by the issue of parking at Lord Tennyson, including the impact of recent changes to parking regulations instituted by the City of Vancouver over the last 12 months.

We have compiled the following two surveys and ask each family to take 2-3 minutes to answer ONE of the surveys - Driving or Non-driving - depending on how your family typically gets to and from school each day:

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/BBSZ2PJ non-driving families
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/HLVNWJK driving families
Please complete the appropriate survey no later than Friday, December 21st.

Ultimately, it is the City that determines parking regulations; however, with your feedback, we are better equipped to provide well-informed suggestions and useful information in any future dialogue with City officials. Equally important, your feedback will help us to determine other viable options to facilitate safe drop off and pick up that we, as a school, may be able to implement.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to give us your feedback!
