Before and After School Care

TOSS and The YMCA are the two private programs on the school site which provide before and after school care for students and the Kitsilano Neighbourhood House offer programs offsite.  As well, here is a list of before and after school care providers for Vancouver schools
Lord Tennyson Out-of-School Care (TOSS)
TOSS is a non-profit society run by a parent board and  staffed by caring professionals. Located within the school, it  provides breakfast care  and after school care for  students in Kindergarten to Grade 3. Part-time care is also  available. Call 604-733-5111.

Lord Tennyson YMCA Kids CLub
The  Lord Tennyson YMCA Kids Club, located within the school, provides  before and after school care for students in kindergarten through Grade 7. The program provides opportunities for children to  develop friendships, build self-confidence and learn values.  The YMCA staff members create a stimulating, caring, and  fun environment where social development is encouraged. 

Hours of operation are 7:30-9:00am, and school dismissal - 6:00pm.

Kitsilano Neighbourhood House and Other ideas
Another service that operates in the area is Kitsilano Neighbourhood House.

FUNDERLAND KIDS' CLUB
Spaces Available for September 2021

Funderland  is an innovative game based after school club for kids to have 2 hours of fun after school, and full day camps on school closures, playing in groups or individually. Our activities have been purposefully designed by experienced educators in order to meet each child’s unique interests and capabilities.  We provide services for children in Kindergarten through Grade 3.
 
Services:
• Pick up children from school (15 min walk from Tennyson on regular days and early dismissal days)
• Every day 2:15 hours after-school classes (3:00pm-5:15pm)
• Flexible, you can choose between 1 and 5 days per week
• Drop-In sessions are available
• Full day camps on Pro-D days and during Winter, Spring and Summer breaks

Activities:
Funderland is an innovative game-based and child-oriented program that focuses on developing self-regulation and social skills through FUN indoor and outdoor activities. It is an All-in-one program that turns children’s every afternoon into a surprise. Step-by-step projects develop critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, listening skills and responsibility while open-ended projects encourage self-confidence, creativity, flexibility and communication skills. These fun indoor-outdoor games and activities have no limits: Sculpturing, Wood Arts, Stone Arts, Open studio, Science experiments, Cooking, Gardening, Storytelling, Puppet making, Green crafts, interesting kid documentaries, group discussions, and lots of free play with game items. 
 

Pick-Up
We provide free pickup service from Lord Tennyson and Shaughnessy Elementary schools every day on regular school days at 3:00 pm or at an earlier time on early dismissal days.
Our experienced staff wear Funderland yellow vests, sign out your child from her/his class and walk them to Funderland Centre
 
Costs
Afterschool Session     ((Monthly registration))                   $ 27 / day
Camps    ((Winter, Spring, Summer and Pro-D day ))         $ 60 / day
You can choose from 1 to 5 classes per week.

Educators
All our staff have valid first aid certificates, the relevant education and years of experience working with children, recent background check and immunization declaration.

Safety & Hygiene
We strictly practice the enhanced health and safety protocols prescribed  by Public Health to ensure  Covid  measures are in place when students return to classes. These measures include: daily temperature monitoring,  regular surface sanitizing, lower number of children in the class, separated pick-up area for families.
