The Halloween Howl

Inviting Tennyson students and their families to a night of Halloween fun on Friday, October 27, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the spooktacular halls of Ecole Lord Tennyson Elementary!

Make sure to come in your favourite costume and get in the spirit for a night of Halloween family fun!

To give all students a chance to come, the Howl is for Tennyson students and their immediate family (parents/guardians and siblings).
Halloween Howl 2023 highlights
  • When: Friday, October 27, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
  • Tickets: $6 per person
    • The Howl sold out within a day, and the waiting list is full. For families on the waiting list, the PAC will be in touch only if tickets become available. Thank you for your patience!
    • If you bought tickets and have any extra, or something comes up and you won't be using all your tickets, please let us know at [email protected] so we can offer them to the waitlist group. Let's see if we can make it so Tennyson kids who want to come can do so!
  • Howl away the evening with the disco dance, games, snacks, drinks, and bake sale!
  • New this year: a haunted classroom to spook the older kids! If your younger kids want to visit the haunted house, please bring them in the first 15 minutes for a walk through. It’s aimed at the older kids so will get spookier from 6.45 onwards.
  • The snacks, drinks, and baked goods will cost a loonie, so please bring your change to enjoy some tasty treats.

Back by popular demand: Pumpkin-carving contest!

To participate, please print off the pumpkin-carving contest entry form or pick one up from the office, and bring your carved pumpkins (or a photo of your pumpkin) and completed form to the front of the school before school starts on October 27.

Judging will happen during the day and the pumpkins will be on display during the event! At the end of the night, please remember to bring your creation home with you, so that it doesn’t go missing in the clean-up.

The categories for this year’s contest are:
  • Scariest
  • Best Decorated/Painted
  • Traditional
  • Original
  • Funny

There will be separate prizes awarded to Primary (Grades K-3) and Intermediate (Grades 4-7) divisions.

Please fill out the entire entry form and bring it to school, along with your amazing Halloween pumpkin creation, on Friday October 27 before school.  Place your pumpkin and your completed entry form on the table in the lobby labeled as either Primary or Intermediate.

Winners will be announced during the school day.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE HALLOWEEN CARVERS!

Halloween Howl volunteering - How can you help?

The Howl is 100% organized and run by Tennyson parents. We need LOTS of volunteers before and on the night to make it a big hit!

Treat team
Please contribute treats for the bake sale, baked goods for the creepy cake crawl, and Jello for the Jello-eating contest. (We need lots of Jello, so please do make some if you can!)

Please sign up here to help with treats

Day-of opportunities
  • Volunteering on the Howl day and some more after school to decorate and set up the activities
  • About 90 volunteers on the night for the activities, bake sale, and snack sale - most of these roles are 30 minutes long
  • Additional parents to dress up and be storytellers, fortune tellers, and spookers in the spooky room
  • About 20 volunteers on October from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. for teardown and cleanup

Please click here to sign up for whatever you can do. Every little bit helps!
