Hot Lunch Program
Tennyson’s Hot Lunch Program is offered four days a week!
Scroll down for all the important information on how to participate! Parent volunteering is essential to make this valuable program possible. If you can help, please email [email protected]! |
How it works
Registering and orders are managed online using the Munchalunch platform.
The system allows a lot of flexibility: order everything, nothing, or any amount in between. And be sure to select Menu 1 and Menu 2 if you’d like to ensure weekly meal service. (More on that below.)
All parents will be asked to update their children’s division when they first log in. This is very important - if the division is not correct, we can’t get the lunch to them!
The 2025 spring term runs April 1 to June 26. To order lunch for the first week back to school after Spring Break (week of March 31), please place orders by Thursday, March 27, at midnight.
Orders for the following week are always due by the Thursday night prior. Families are welcome to order on a weekly basis, or place your order for the whole term and tweak it along the way, with these deadlines in mind.
Menus 1 & 2: What does it mean?
Each hot lunch day is set up as Menu 1 & Menu 2. They cover alternating weeks to save time when ordering but still allow flexibility. For example, it is easy to alternate between chicken teriyaki one week on Menu 1 and sushi the alternating week on Menu 2. Order from BOTH Menus (1 & 2) if you want lunches every week! If you only order from Sushi Menu 1, your child will get chicken teriyaki every second week.

Ordering deadlines and changes
You can add an order anytime, but it takes one week for the lunches to start (because we order in advance from suppliers). Cancellations/changes can also be made to orders with a week’s notice. Changes/refunds are not possible after such dates. Only pre-ordered lunches will be provided - there will be no “day of” sales.
Want lunches only once or twice a month? Planning a family vacation? You can easily remove any days at the END of ordering (keep going until you see the dates listed).
You can log in to Munchalunch anytime to check your orders. Use the My Account - View My Orders tab.
**** PLEASE NOTE: If you do not receive a Munchalunch reminder email, your child will not have a lunch provided. **** Please remember to pack a lunch for your child if they do not have one ordered that week. We can only provide what was actually ordered (not what you hoped or intended to order).

Subsidies are available!
Financial challenges should never be a barrier to accessing hot lunches. The Tennyson Hot Lunch Program (via PAC) is happy to provide support to those who need it. Bursaries up to $500 per child (per school year) are available. Please contact Principal Dorothy Watkins to request a bursary: [email protected].
Fine print:
There are currently 4 bursaries available per year. Once you contact the school admin, they will contact the hot lunch coordinator who will add a credit to your Munchalunch account to be used to order lunches. Any credit remaining at the end of the year will be returned to the school's hot lunch program.

Volunteers needed
To operate, the program needs at least one volunteer daily Tuesday to Friday for about an hour. It's always lovely to have two parents on site during the lunch window to ensure it's a smooth success.

We’ve tried to keep in mind nutrition, health/safety, waste, financial accessibility, vendor reliability, dietary restrictions, minimize parent/teacher involvement, AND ensure kids will enjoy their hot lunches. With that in mind, we graciously accept your feedback at [email protected].
