Kick-Start Campaign
Thanks to the phenomenal fundraising efforts of past families, the Tennyson PAC has not fundraised the 2022/2023 school year. In normal years when we do fundraise, we start the year with the following direct donation campaign.
September 13, 2021
Dear New and Returning Tennyson Families,
Welcome to the start of the new school year at Lord Tennyson! As a parent/guardian of a student at the school, you are automatically a member of the Parent Advisory Council (PAC). The PAC is the parent support body that enhances the Tennyson school experience for our children. In order for the PAC to work effectively, we need your help. We can only support our teachers and children with strong resources. We ask that parents consider the following contributions.
FINANCIAL – The 2020-21 PAC budget requires that we raise $39,125. Approximately $8,000 of this is typically covered by the BC Gaming Grant, but the rest is made up from donations from our parent community. We could sell chocolate bars or coupon books to raise this money, however, at the request of parents, in 2011 we initiated a streamlined fundraising approach. It consists of the fall “Kickstart” direct appeal, and the spring “Math/Spell-a-thon”. If it is within your means, we are asking for a minimum contribution of $50/child towards this year’s Kickstart campaign. More or less is always gratefully appreciated. The Kickstart contribution is the only school donation that is tax-deductible if you donate online (tax receipts will be issued by the Vancouver School Board). You can also donate by cheque, but we are unable to issue a tax receipt. This year, we are specifically fundraising to purchase new technology for the school (iPads), additional stationary bikes, classroom sensory tools, parent and student educational presenters and online learning supports. Please see the PAC website (lordtennyson.ca) for more details on this year’s PAC budget.
HOW TO DONATE:
VOLUNTEER TIME - Lord Tennyson has a long history of active parent involvement. As a result, we are able to have a school calendar substantively enriched by extra events, programs and activities that the PAC organizes or sponsors. In order to maintain this enriched environment for our children, we request each family consider volunteering time. You don't have to take on a big job; whatever you can commit will make a big difference. There are many ways to be involved including those listed on the website at lordtennyson.ca.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us at [email protected]. We hope to see you at our next PAC Meeting and at school events throughout the year. With your help, we look forward to another great year at Lord Tennyson.
***Please note that Quebec 2023 and Grad 2023 run separate fundraisers throughout the year and are not part of the PAC fundraising****
