32 very excited grade 7 students and 3 (likely slightly apprehensive) teacher chaperones left early this morning for a week in Québec. The Gr 7 Québec trip is an annual Tennyson tradition ... a cultural exchange to top-off their 8 years of learning French. This year the students will billet with a Québec family who has a child attending Collège Français (a private elementary school just outside of Montreal). They spend the entire week fully immersed in French culture and speaking only French. Besides experiencing Montreal, our lucky students will also take a day trip to Carnival in Québec City. Wow - what an amazing experience for them! In return, we look forward to hosting the Québec students at Tennyson in May. The Quebec 2014 parents would like to thank all Tennyson parents for their support last year when we were fundraising. As well, a huge thanks to SEVEC for the grant to cover the flights. In December, many divisions got involved with putting together hampers for those less fortunate. If you have ever wondered how much these hampers mean to the recipients, please read the following letter that Divisions 1 & 2 received. You might want to grab some kleenex first! Thanks to all of the students and parents who contributed to hampers before Christmas.
Former Tennyson music teacher Will Stroet gave a very interactive music concert to the K-3 students today in the gym. The kids absolutely loved it! Check out Will's website for more info on his videos, music, and events. Here is a sampling of some of the twins who showed up for Tennyson's Twin Day on Friday. Please send photos to [email protected] (as you can see, my selection was limited). The office has two black youth medium hoodies (tiger on back) available for purchase ($25). Please stop by the office if you would like to purchase one.
