Students, parents and teachers have been enjoying before-school Christmas Carolling in the school lobby each morning this week. Rudolph, Frosty and more...! Never mind lining up in the cold outside; come on inside and join in on the fun. Only two more days left this week. The Tennyson Strings students will be performing in the gym Wednesday, Dec 12 at 7pm.
Parents are invited to bring a finger-friendly treat to share with everyone after the concert. Coffee, tea, and juice will be provided. This event is open to all Tennyson families. The parents and students from the three grade 1 classes put together a Christmas Hamper for a family of three boys, a dad, and a grandma. Besides the gifts of clothing and toys, there were a lot of gift cards for groceries, movies, and shopping. Thank you for making Christmas great for a family in need! Our annual Food Bank Drive has begun! Please bring non-perishable food items for donation to the Vancouver Food Bank. Students should place their donations in their division's box, and colour in a square on the sheet provided. (This is simply to track the total donations... it is not a competition!) The Food Bank Drive ends on December 20. Tennyson has a new club, and it's spelled S-P-C-A! The SPCA club is run by students, and meets during lunch on Fridays in the music room. This past Friday, Sage B. chaired the meeting (students take turns) and the kids learned all about hamsters including what they eat, the history of hamsters, and how to care for them. We plan to make some dog blankets to donate to the SPCA as a winter present. Are there any parents who would like to take one of the blankets to the SPCA with their child and take pictures of them donating it, perhaps bringing another SPCA club friend along, too? Please contact Beth Elliott for more information. At our last meeting, the students made toys for pets (see photo). Some students were so busy making their toys, the didn't want to stop to be in the photo! We are now looking into options for a tour of the SPCA. For more information on the SPCA club, please see Alex Elliott (student) at school, or email Beth Elliott (Mom of Alex, Grade 6 and Charlotte, Grade 3). You should receive this email from your class parent regarding a parking survey, but just in case you missed it, here are the links:
And here's the letter:
