Dear Parents and Guardians, I would like to take this opportunity to give parents an update about the plumbing and maintenance work being done at the school. As you are aware, we have had issues with the plumbing and water over the last couple of weeks. Tomorrow after school, district maintenance staff will be thoroughly reviewing the work done to the plumbing to ensure that we will not have any more disruptions. For now, the toilets are all running and water is available for handwashing. We have secured portable toilets just in case they are needed, and they are located at the front of the school. These will remain locked for the time being, and will only be used if absolutely necessary. Out of an abundance of caution, we are also in the process of having the drinking water tested to ensure that it was not affected by the disruptions, and we have asked staff and students not to drink the tap water. Until we have positive results from our water testing, we have brought in fresh water for the staff and students to drink. We have more drinking water being delivered to the school later today and tomorrow. To assist us in making this an environmentally friendly endeavour, could you please have your child bring a water bottle to school tomorrow for refilling throughout the day. It would also be helpful if they came with their own full water bottle from home at the start of the day. Thank you for your patience and understanding with the situation. Kind Regards, Claudette Claudette Alain, Principal, Lord Tennyson Quebec 2018 and C'est Mon Café (owned by Tennyson parents) will be serving Thursday lunches at Tennyson starting in February.
Ordering will not be through Munchalunch ... parents will order directly from the C'est Mon Café website. Here are some details: www.cestmoncafe.com Thursday Hot Lunch service will be offered starting Feb 2 right through to June 22 (you can order by the month). On their website, scroll down to the Tennyson tab (it is currently the bottom one). Review sample ordering form and then proceed to ordering. It is very important that you know (correctly!) your child's division number as meals will be delivered to individual division tables. Much confusion if the division is incorrect! If you have allergy concerns, please contact Cest Mon Café via their website before placing your order. Questions? Please read their FAQ section on the website and then contact them (via their website) if your question is not answered. The ordering deadline for the month of February is Jan 31 before 9pm, but ordering in advance is better (thank you). You can order month by month or through to the end of June. Payment options include PayPal or major credit cards. Please refer to their website for lots of great information about what is offered, prices, how to change orders, cancel orders, ordering deadlines, what to do if your child does not receive their meal, etc. Finally, if you would like to help on Thursdays, please email Nicole. Happy "one less lunch to make"! You are invited to an upcoming "In the Know" session the F.O.R.C.E. Society for Kid's Mental Health is hosting. WEBINAR TOPIC: The Four Step C.A.R.E. Model of Conflict Management for Parents and Caregivers Raising (and Loving) Chronic Conflict Children. Learn STEPS to be able to quickly and safely de-escalate almost every conflict episode in your family, saving time and energy as well as improving the overall livability of your home life. DATE: Tuesday, January 17th from 6:30 - 8PM LOCATION: South Vancouver Youth Centre 4920 Fraser St. Vancouver, B.C. As you may or may not know, due to some unexpected sources of profit and a large contribution received from the Quebec 2016 group, the 2015-2016 school year ended with a PAC budget surplus. We are now seeking input from the Lord Tennyson parent community on how we should use this surplus. If you would like to contribute your opinions, please complete the following survey by 5pm on Jan 16: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/RYT57JR (It honestly should take only a minute or less to complete.) Note, however, that the survey results are not binding and any decision on the spending of funds must be voted on at a PAC meeting ... so come out to the PAC meeting on Monday, Jan 16 at 7pm to discuss and vote. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Fall Kick-Start Campaign. Income tax receipts are available for pickup from the Tennyson office. Merci Beaucoup! |
