At BC Family French Camp, children from French Immersion bring their families along to camp. Families camp in their own tents or trailers. A friendly neighbourhood is formed - surrounded by the sounds of children playing and singing in French. It is really quite an experience!
Check out the BCFFC webpage for loads of information (including registration) : www.bcffc.com Here is a glimpse into a week at French camp : 2014 Slideshow The camps run in July and August and include 3 locations - Shuswap Lake, Nanaimo, and Gwillim Lake. Don't worry , parents do not need to be able to speak French. Please see the following message from a Kindergarten parent:
We are currently seeking immediate before and after school care for our daughter. She is in Mme Janesse's Div 18 kindergarten class and we would require someone to take her to class and pick her up from class at end of school day. Ideally we would be looking for an 8am drop off and 530pm pick up. Any leads are greatly appreciated! It is best I reach me via email at [email protected]. Regards, Amy Fairbridge Jericho Baseball registration is now open. Jericho Baseball is for boys and girls ages 3 - 12.
Most (but not all) Tennyson students who play baseball, play in this league. Boundary rules have changed recently and all Tennyson students are now eligible to play in the Jericho League. More info and registration details can be found in this letter from the league. Ordering will be open Jan 15 - Jan 24 for the upcoming lunch session (February - April lunches).
Get all the lovely details here. Happy "not packing lunches" on some mornings! The following message is from the Lord Nelson PAC:
Join us on Monday January 26th, 2015 from 6:30pm-8:00pm in the Lord Nelson Gym as highly renowned researcher, neuroscientist, and Lord Nelson Parent Dr. Lara Boyd discusses with parents how children's brains change with learning and development. She will present recent data showing brain plasticity in children and conclude with some practice tips for maximizing learning and brain plasticity. Reserve your ticket online today at www.thelearningbrain.eventbrite.ca for only $5. Space is limited so act quickly! If tickets remain on the day of the event, they will be available at the door for $7. Lara has asked that all proceeds of the evening be donated to Lord Nelson's technology fund. Due to a couple of cancellations, there are two spots available for the Friday Noon Hour Karate Class. This is for Primary Students (Gr 1 - 3).
Please contact Gloria at [email protected] if your son or daughter would like to register. The class starts this Friday, Jan 16. Would you like to share your perspectives with the City of Vancouver on issues related to planning and projects? Data from previous surveys suggests that families with children are underrepresented in public meeting and opinion survey data collected (No kidding! Who has the time?). Consider joining “Talk Vancouver” and provide input via short online surveys you can complete while waiting to pick up your kids from school, soccer, piano, or waiting in the bleachers at the hockey rink or swimming pool.

Bonjour ! I have years of experience in tutoring French with great results, to students from primary school to university and I have excellent references validating my experience and skills, as you can see on my website. (See link below) As a native French speaker, I can offer strong support in accent reduction, the tricky subtleties of French grammar as well as idiomatic expressions. I am also familiar with Vancouver School Board’s curriculum. I am a good communicator and I have a solid knowledge of French grammar. Over the past few years, I have also collected many resources and methods to benefit my students. I adapt the lessons to meet each individual student’s needs and learning style. We can focus on grammar, comprehension, reading, pronunciation, conversation or any particular aspect of the French language. I can drive to most neighbourhoods in Vancouver to meet with my students in their residence. For more information, visit my website at www.allons-y-Frenchtutoring.com Merci ! Why not join fellow Tennyson parents for French conversation in a relaxed (and non-judgemental) atmosphere? Don’t feel shy… the only way to improve is to try! ;)
