Hello Tennyson Families,
It's the time of the year when all books need to come home for the summer, back to our library. I am running a contest called " Book Hunt Challenge". All books must be back and checked in to our Library for Friday, JUNE 7. All divisions that have brought back all books and paid all fines for lost book will be entered to win. Please help your kids look for their library books at home and at school (look in their desk, the class collection, classmates desks,... Good luck to all, Mme Paule Teacher Librarian Thank you all for your contribution to the Math-A-Thon. We raised $9758.70. That is amazing!
Nearly 90 students received prizes for their efforts, with more than 3/4 of those going in random prize draws to any child who participated and the others going to our biggest fundraisers. Thank you to all the parents who generously donated prizes; there was a super selection for the winners to choose from. The top top fundraising division this year is Division 9, Grade 3, MmeSt Jacques and Mme Black. They raised over $900 and will soon be enjoying a pizza party to celebrate. The funds raised will be going towards the new school and to continue to enhance the educational experience provided to our children. Thank you all. The Summer Lord Tennyson French Book Fair is less than three weeks away. This year it will be the June 10-14, the week that the school library has to stop loaning books to do inventory. And the perfect time to get ahold of all the popular French books that students will want to read over the summer!
Parent volunteers are needed to make it a success. Volunteer work includes: Monday morningset up, daily recess, noon-hour & after school sales shifts, and Friday after-school take down. All proceeds from the French Book Fair go directly to our teachers to enable them to purchase books for their classrooms and our library. To volunteer, please contact Jacqueline Crummey by email [email protected], or text 778.788.2585 Many thanks! Despite the lack of track and field, we have enjoyed a fabulous track and field season this year at Tennyson thanks to our teacher sponsors and parent volunteers.
Our athletes met bright and early, three mornings a week to train. The Junior and Senior athletes went off-site to practice shot-put, running and long jump at Granville Park, and our Junior-x enjoyed long jump, shot-put and racing in the playground. Tennyson was well represented at the two mini-meets and the district-wide final and did us proud. Our students ran their hearts out winning some first place ribbons in relay, 100 and 600 meter races. They also excelled at shot-put and put in a great show in high-jump and long-jump. Bravo! The end of the season was celebrated with a Junior-X final meet on Friday. Our youngest athletes showed off their long-jump, high-jump, shot-put and running prowess and we finished with some fabulous snacks. A big thank you to all our parent coaches, organizers and teacher sponsors for their dedication and support of the Tennyson track and field team. (PS If you have any great photos please send them so we can share them) Come out and see 7 Tennyson students perform in Shrek the Musical!

Five Tennyson students are performing in Karen Flamenco’s Beauty and the Beast this year: June 15 and 16 at the Vancouver Playhouse.

These are ordered directly from SPUD.CA just like regular produce boxes and require just a few extra clicks at checkout to make sure that Tennyson can benefit as well. Funds raised will go to the additional costs associated with the new building (technology, playground, etc.) In addition, Spud will pick a random winner from our first month’s orders to win a free produce box! The last Pro-D sports clinics for the year will take place on the next District Pro-D day (May 17th). We will once again have both volleyball and basketball clinics available.
Basketball Clinics

Under each of the sport headings there is a brief description of the camp. Tennyson students showed off their talent and creativity at this year's Spring Fling! Thank you to all the brave and accomplished performers who put on such a fantastic show. There were pianists, violinists, singers, dancers, gymnasts and even a magician who had us baffled with his illusions. Tennyson students really are a talented bunch!
The MC's for the night Rachelle Hodgson and Dave Leach did an amazing job keeping the talent on track and entertaining the crowd between acts, and DJ Marc was spot on with his tunes for the dance parties. And Marc, the music for the magic show was inspired! The Spring Fling wasn't just about the talent show; there was also a cupcake decorating contest, fun games like giant connect 4, face painting, a bake sale and dinner from C'est mon Cafe. The cupcake decorating contest winners were Samantha Miller, Sebastian Ferris, Joshua Severyn and an unknown (check out the picture above and let [email protected] know your name). Congratulations to the winners! The Spring Fling was also about the silent auction which was spectacular. I want to give a special shout out to Katherine Smith who solicited all the prizes and put the whole auction together. All the money that is made from the auction will go towards technology in the new school. If you have a winning bid and haven't collected your prize yet you can pick it up next week. Events like the Spring Fling rely on volunteers and there were lots of parents and students who helped out on the night. Thank you all. I'd like to give a special thanks to Jacqueline Crummey for coordinating the night and Nana Yenson who managed the bake sale and popcorn machine. You went above and beyond and we really appreciate it. If you want to see more Tennyson talent on display you can watch 7 of our students performing in Encore Theater's Shrek the Musical. It's going to be great. |
