On Friday, May 25, the Tennyson Gr 6/7 Math Club had an exciting workshop put on by a University of Waterloo Math professor. The students worked on problems in groups, talked about winning strategies, discussed how to know when you have the correct solution (and is it the "only" solution?), and were guided through solutions by Professor Carrie Knoll from Waterloo. Tennyson students were engaged and thoroughly enjoyed the workshop. Thank you for coming in, Carrie! The Tennyson field was abuzz with sport, movement, and fun on Friday May 25th, as many of our Kindergarten through Grade 2 students participated in the Mini Track meet. They had the opportunity to do high jump, long jump, shot put, and relays. At the end, students enjoyed a healthy snack before headign to class invigorated and ready for the day. This is a great chance for students to build physical literacy skills, learn about some of the key Track & Field events, and to the plant the seeds for future Track events. Thank you to the many parents and staff members who volunteered their time to make Track & Field possible this year at Tennyson!

Check it regularly for school news On Friday, May 25th, the Spring Fling made it truly evident that Tennyson's Got Talent! Students from Kindergarten through Grade 7 participated with talent abounding: songs of all sorts from solos to duets to groups, a variety of musical instruments, acting, dance, jokes, and lots of fun for all. The after-school event went into the evening, showcasing our amazing students! A bit thank you to all of the organizers, MCs, our resident DJ, Gr. 7 student leaders, the PAC, and to all who contributed to make the evening possible.

Encore Musical Theatre Company proudly presents this year’s show…. Meredith Willson’s: The Music Man Jr There are six Tennyson students (and one former student) in the show ... Amelia, Anna, Ellie, Mailys, and Rhiley (all in Gr 6), Sophie (Gr 7), and a former student, Jay (Gr 9). Encore is a theatre company for Vancouver kids in grades 4 through 9 who LOVE musical theatre. Auditions are in September (come check out the show if you think it might be a fit for your child). Performance dates at the Norman Rothstein Theatre, 950 W 41 Ave Thursday, June 7 at 7 PM Friday, June 8 at 7 PM Saturday, June 9 at 2 PM and 7 PM Tickets are general admission and $20 each and can be purchased online from Encore’s website: http://encoremusicaltheatre.org/tickets/ Please come support our Tennyson students while having a great time with your family! Based on Meredith Willson's six-time-Tony-Award-winning musical comedy, The Music Man Jr. features some of musical theatre’s most iconic songs and a story filled with wit, warmth and good old-fashioned romance. The Music Man Jr. is family entertainment at its best – a bold, brassy show that will have the whole town atwitter! Master showman Harold Hill is in town and he’s got “seventy-six trombones” in tow. Can upright, uptight Marian, the town librarian, resist his powerful allure? The story follows fast-talking traveling salesman, Harold Hill, as he cons the people of River City, Iowa, into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys' band he vows to organize. The catch? He doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marian, whose belief in Harold’s power just might help him succeed in the end in spite of himself. Thank you for the great start to Bike to School Week, Tennyson!
We were wrong in yesterday's email blast, only bikers are officially tallied. But we still offer a "hats off" to those that walked and bussed. Bikers should remember to check in each morning at the back of the school. Tennyson would like to recognize donations from 2 local businesses ... please support businesses that support us! Green's Organic (Broadway and Maple) provided the lovely breakfast bowls this morning! Ride On Again Bikes (Broadway and Vine) gave us Dave for the bike tune-ups this morning. It was a lovely Monday morning and the bikers (parents, teachers, and students) had a nice, social start to the day. Thank you to the Bike to School Team (led by Tai this morning) for all of their efforts. A Huge THANK YOU to all those helping hands who pitched in to make this year’s Spring Fling a sunny success. The performers were amazing, our MCs very witty and the decorations spectacular! The food was tasty too!
And thanks to Madame Christine for Judging the annual Cupcake Contest. The winning Cupcakes with an added artistic theme titled “Sunshine & Happiness” was awarded to Marcus & Bridget (grade 5). Well done! A special thank you to our community for supporting the new Quebec 2020 (grade 5) class as the bake sale, food & drinks were a big hit! We look forward to seeing everyone enjoy the delicious lunch and snacks at the upcoming Sports Day on Friday June 22nd. Thank you for the great start to Bike to School Week, Tennyson!
