School is out for the summer - see you again on Sept 4. The last day was exciting but also sad as we said good bye to some terrific Tennyson teachers as well as our wonderful grade 7s. We will miss you all ... you added a lot to Tennyson. We wish the grade 7 students a very successful transition to high school and we hope to see them back for visits next year. The year end assemblies and slide shows were memorable and were a great way to start summer. Have a safe and happy summer everyone! The gym looked amazing and the grade 7s looked even better. Congratulations to our grade 7s ... you have been an incredible set of role models to the younger students at the school. We wish you the best! Thanks to Ron Sombilon Photography for permission to post this photo. Wow! What a day. The rain held off and an exciting sports day was enjoyed by all. It was great to see so much Tennyson spirit out there today - from Gr 7 and 8 helpers, to parent volunteers on and off the fields, teachers and staff, and all the students who took part in the games. What a success! The final standings were: First place - Team Blue Second place - Team Red Third place - Team Yellow Fourth place - Team Green A surprise treat from Tennyson parents was left in the staffroom for Tennyson staff to enjoy. Thank you to Fabrice at Plaisir Sucré on Arbutus St for supplying delicious french pastries at a discount for our wonderful staff. Tennyson parents thank all of the Tennyson staff for everything that they do to make the school great for our kids. The students and staff of Tennyson put on a entertaining and delicious tea for the parent volunteers. Parents were greeted and served by students. Teachers and administration mingled and chatted with parents and thanked them for all of their work to make Tennyson a better place. They were entertained by the Grade 6/7 strings group, a class of Gr 2 students singing a thank you song, and a class of Gr 3 students playing the recorder. Parents were able to relax and catch up with each other ... they left with smiles on their faces and a gerber daisy to take home. The Spell-a-thon organisers would like to say a terrific thank-you to all the students and teachers, for working hard to raise money for the PAC. Their efforts brought in over $6700.
Our big "overall" fundraisers (all raising over $200 each) were Peter Mikulash, Jasper Schaller, Morgan Aarons, Jamie Guy, Simon Mikulash, Maddox Schaller and Hannah Meaney. The other top "grade" fundraisers were Amber Wong, Oskar Purcell, Amanda Lindsey, Casey Fraser, Kate Bliss, Gareth Dunbar, Robbie Lam Tolliday, Stephanie Ross, Ella Goldman, Isabel Shaw, Audrey Larke and Nathan Durno. These students chose prizes from the display case at the front of the school. Congratulations and thanks! Put in your calendar... should be a fun day for student, staff and parents. Details to follow.
