Kilometre Club starting this Thursday!

3/29/2017

Picture
Tennyson's  Kilometre Club will be starting this Thursday, March 30 at  8:20am. Meet at the front steps!
The Km Club will run every Tuesday and Thursday morning .

Thank you to Carina Blafield and Barbara Arenson, Tennyson's Kilometre Club will be up and running (literally) soon!   And a huge thanks to the sponsor teachers ...  M Brian, Mme May, Mme Renee, Mme Kulokas!

What is the Kilometre Club?
Basically it is a way to get students up and moving first thing in the morning. The students (with parent volunteers) will run around the Tennyson block (half a kilometre), collecting popsicle sticks for each lap run. They will hand in their popsicle sticks at 8:45 (so kilometres can be tallied)  and will have a few minutes of cool down stretches together before school starts. What a great way to start the day!

The club is open to all students but those in Gr 2 or under should have a parent chaperone with them.

Bring this permission form to your first run!

Math-a-thon - prizes needed!

3/26/2017

This year’s “A-THON" is a Math-a-thon. It is the second and final PAC fundraiser for the 2016/17 school year and will take place on April 20, 2017. The organizers are looking for help in getting incentive prizes for the students who fundraise money. These prizes could be donated by parents or solicited form local businesses using this letter. Anything for a student from Kindergarten to grade 7 is appropriate (small toys, crafts, gift cards etc). Feel free to contact [email protected]  if you have questions. Merci beaucoup.

Scholastic Book Fair: April 3 - 7

3/26/2017

Scholastic English Book  Fair (April 3 - 7)
The  book  fair  starts Monday, April 3 at 3pm.
It is open before school 8:30-9:00 every day (except Monday), at recess 10:35-10:55 and after school 3:00-3:30. This is NOT a fundraiser - it is a way to put extra books  into the classrooms and library. If we sell $3000 worth of  books, we receive 60% back in Scholastic credits! These credits are divided between the divisions, the library, and the resource teachers. The credits are exchanged for  books  that will enrich your child's class. Picture  books, dictionaries, and non-fiction - we have it all. Most of the  books  will be in  English this Spring (The French Book Fair is in the Fall). Here is a  link to Scholastic Book Central  to browse the Scholastic catalogue.
We will do the Wish Lists again - your teacher will have a list of  books  that they wish to have in their class. You can purchase a  book  for your child’s teacher and at the same time your purchase goes towards our Scholastic credits.

Don't forget to enter your name into the Family Draw ... the winner gets $25 worth of  books  and so does their classroom teacher!
If you're interested in volunteering, please email Nana at [email protected].
