Quebec 2023 Bake Sale was a hit!

6/19/2022

We hope you managed to enjoy some of the treats that were on offer at the bake sale last Friday, held by the Quebec 2023 fundraising team.

It was a fantastic turn out - what a line!   The kids were incredibly patient and polite as they picked out their treats.

An enormous thank you to TOSS for donating some  baked goods to the sale!

And thank you to all who stopped by for a tiger cupcake, cookie or other delicious treat! The Quebec 2023 students appreciate your support!

Canadians of all ages interested in national writing competitions are   encouraged to visit www.polarexpressions.ca for information on upcoming deadlines and guidelines.
Full of Wonder

Crickets  cricketing loudly,
but not visible
to my eyes.

Crows squawking innocently,
but who knows if they did something nasty
beyond my eyesight?

Steam rises up in the air
as we breathe,
vanishes into the  brisk air
even before I blink my eyes.

Leaves rustling in the wind,
small but still alive,
sacrificing  themselves for the big old tree.
Nobody notices,
but I do.

Volunteer opportunities for 2022/23 school year

6/9/2022

Tennyson's enrichment opportunities and programs run on people power! Can we count you in?

Elected Roles
PAC Chair (Co-Chair) and Vice Chair (Co-Vice Chair)

4 people? Well, it makes it easier to spread the work around, but it can be done in any combination of ways, so grab a friend or meet a new one and share the job! These roles have a heavier time commitment, but are also heavy on job satisfaction. Our current chair is coming to the end of their term limit, so this seat is wide open.

Treasurer and Co-Treasurer
Ok, this is one job that requires some accounting or bookkeeping experience. True story. Luckily, you'll never be on your own as we always need two for oversight. Our current treasury duo has one year left in their term and September would be the perfect time for a new person to start shadowing and learn the ropes.

Secretary and Co-Secretary
We have a very fantastical minute taker at the moment, but we've told her under no circumstances is she ever allowed to be ill or busy on PAC meeting nights. Ack! What would we do? Having a Co-Secretary sure would help. Could this be you? Minimum time commitment is 8 PAC meetings a year, half that if there are 2.

DPAC Representative
Advocacy and big picture thinking at the district level. This role is for someone who wants to work for the betterment of students and families beyond the Tennyson school yard.

HERE  you can find a more detailed (and official) descriptions of each role - page 6 of our by-laws.

Unelected roles

Billboard Sign
You know the one at the corner of 10th and Maple? That's the one! Time  commitment is once a week, or once every 2 weeks, during school hours (as the letters are stored inside). We've haven't timed how long it takes to put the letters up and pull down, but maybe depends how picky you are.

Munchalunch Mastermind
Set up and manage the back end of hot lunch ordering, noon hour programs and any other PAC programs. Time commitment is 30 - 60 minutes per day during set up and launch of each session. 1 to 2 hours weekly otherwise. Best part about this job? You can do it anytime and from anywhere! Never make it to the school? Have an alternate platform idea? This job might be for you. (this job does not include organizing food and vendors)

Weekly Email Blast Writer
Be the author of our weekly email blasts. Blasts come out every week on a Sunday or Monday. Pulling it all together depends how organized you are: approx 2 hours per week. Add an hour per week during busy times - Sep - Dec. This is also a job that can be done remotely
