10th Ave Corridor Consultation/Open House
In 2015, the City began to consult the community about improvements to the 10th Avenue Bikeway to make it safe and comfortable for people of all ages and abilities. The next segment of 10th Avenue that the City plans to upgrade is between Trafalgar Street and Burrard Street, with a goal of improving neighbourhood livability and access to the Arbutus Greenway, schools, businesses and other organizations along this stretch of 10th Avenue. The proposed upgrades will:
10th Avenue will also serve as part of a critical detour route for the Arbutus Greenway during the construction of the upcoming Broadway Subway Project, an extension of the Millennium Line SkyTrain. This upcoming lunch session covers Mondays and Wednesdays from February through mid-June (you are on your own for the final two weeks …. sorry). Please note that there won’t be any Sushi on February 4th! You have to pack a lunch for your kids! Please note as well Tuesday C’est Mon Cafe ordering is separate (not through Munchalunch). Order by Friday, Feb 1 if you want the first Pizza Lunch (Feb 6). I know you want to order lunches immediately (and you should do it very soon) but PLEASE take a moment to chat with your child … I can promise you that the little angels have loads of opinions about what shows up in front of them. SO. MANY. OPINIONS. Really. Please ask them if they are happy with their previous order before ordering again. Ordering Info Ordering is open now (and will remain open for late orders) but orders must be placed by Fri, Feb 1 in order to receive the first Pizza lunch on Wednesday, Feb 6. New orders, cancellations, and changes must be made 6 days in advance of the lunch (we order in advance from the suppliers). Includes Feb - mid - June lunches. Yes, it. Is a long lunch period but changes/cancellations can be made if needed by contacting the lunch administrator. The ordering system allows complete flexibility (order everything, nothing, or any amount in between). If you want to alternate between sushi and pizza (sushi one week, pizza the next), order from Sushi Menu 1 and Pizza Menu 2 (or vice versa). If you want both lunches weekly, be sure to order from both Menu 1 AND Menu 2 for both sushi and pizza. More details at the bottom of this email. You can remove dates at the end of ordering if you need to. Grade 7 parents should read the field trip notes that show up and remove the Quebec trip and hosting dates. Options Pizza Wednesdays Pizzas will continue to be provided by Panago and the Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookie by Plaisir Sucre. Pizza options include Pepperoni Pizza or Cheese Pizza. Sushi Mondays Sushi will continue to be provided by QQ Sushi (located at Broadway and Fir). Sushi options include California roll, Cucumber roll, Avocado Roll, Salmon roll, Tuna roll, Edamame and Chicken Teriyaki. You can log in to Munchalunch anytime to check your orders. Your questions will be answered … email [email protected] Proceeds from lunches go towards sending next year’s Gr 7 students to Quebec, the Quebec Futures Fund, and PAC. Thank you so much for the support! A bit more info in case you are new to ordering: Menu 1 & Menu 2: What does it mean? Sushi and Pizza are set up as Menu 1 & Menu 2. They cover alternating weeks (to save time when ordering but still allow flexibility - for example, it is easy to alternate between cheese and pepperoni pizza or only order a cookie every second week). Order from BOTH Menus (1 & 2) if you want lunches every week! If you only order from Pizza Menu 1, your child will get pizza every second week. If you would like to alternate between pizza and sushi (Sushi Monday one week and Pizza Wednesday the next week), use opposite menus for them … for example, order from Sushi Menu 1 and Pizza Menu 2. Sushi Menu 1 and Pizza Menu 1 always fall in the same week (I want lunches only once or twice a month? Planning a family vacation? You can easily remove any days at the END of ordering (keep going until the end!). Kitsilano Gymnastics will be running Spring break camps during both weeks of the March break. Apart from tons of fun gymnastics, kids will do crafts, play team sports, watch a movie on the big screen, go to the Aquarium and Vancouver Aquatic Centre. The cost of the camp is $210 per child, and the hours are 9-2:30 pm.
There are still spaces available the second week. Email Serghei to sign your child up for the whole week or drop in on a day or two at $45 per day. The Vancouver Secondary Schools Athletic Association (VSSAA) is once again providing programming activities for students on the January 25 & 28 Pro-D Days. They will have sessions for grade 3’s up to grade 7s. Students will be provided skill development instruction and an opportunity to practice those skills through our clinic games and challenges.
Online registration has opened so lease visit the VSSAA website and find the Pro-D clinics and camps listed under the SPECIAL EVENTS TAB on the top of the home page. Under each of the sport headings there is a brief description of the camp. Click on the REGISTER TAB to be taken to then to the online registration section - a family account will need to be created and then add the athlete information to your account prior to registering for the clinic or camp of your choice. Today Tennyson's Gr 6/7 Math Club was visited by Jeff Anderson from The Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing at the University of Waterloo. The students worked on some Gauss contest math questions and learned about exciting career options that use Mathematics, Computing, and Problem Solving.
