2015 Vancouver Sun Harry Jerome International Track Classic (Thanks to Rob Severyn for organizing!)
Below is some information for all families and athletes attending the 2015 Vancouver Sun Harry Jerome International Track Classic on Monday, June 8 at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby. Our young Tigers have been chosen to compete in the Elementary Relays during this year’s event. Admission is free to all Tennyson track team members and their families. If anyone needs extra free tickets for adults they can be picked up at practice this week from Rob or Jacqueline or email [email protected]. A schedule of events pertaining to our Tennyson athletes and the overall timeframe for the Jerome events is attached. Also included is the link to the Jerome Classic as well as directions to Swangard Stadium and parking details. http://www.harryjerome.com/events/harry-jerome-track-classic/2015 http://www.burnaby.ca/Things-To-Do/Outdoor-Facilities/Swangard-Stadium/Getting-Here---Parking.html Check in: 6:00pm at the relay tent situated at the SW gate at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby. Do not be late. There will be a lot of congestion after 6:00pm. All Tennyson athletes competing in the Relays will receive an official numbered bib to wear during the race and take home afterwards. Marshalling: There will be no PA announcements regarding marshalling the kids from the grandstand to the track. All Tennyson relay teams must be in the north end of the grandstands at 7:00pm. We suggest you grab seats at the north end as soon as you have checked in and received your bibs. We will organize the teams in the stands and then lead all heats, all divisions, out to the track en masse. There will be senior events on the track and congestion everywhere so it will take a while to get the kids from the stands to their transition zones. Please respect the marshalling schedule and the volunteers who are responsible for the safety of our children. Warm up: There will be no opportunity to warm up on the track. We may choose to use the concourse area if the kids need to burn off some energy but please make sure you are in the north end of the grandstands by 7:00pm. There will be a mini warm up at the relay transition areas just before the relays. Jerseys: Please ensure your athletes are wearing their orange Tennyson t-shirts. All Tennyson family members are encouraged to wear their Orange t-shirts - if you need one, please contact Jacqueline Crummey: [email protected] The relays won’t be happening until 8:30pm so make sure the kids have been fed before coming to the Stadium. Thank you for your effort. I assure you that it will be a magical, memorable experience for your kids and your families. Your athletes will have a blast competing on the same track as the Olympic and international senior athletes. Final Practise Friday, June 5: This is a mandatory practise for all relay teams as it will be the final opportunity to practise as a team before the Harry Jerome Event. Regards, Your Tennyson volunteer parent coaches. Comments are closed.
