An exciting start to the cross country season

9/27/2019

This week's season opening cross country meet at Vanier Park was fantastic fun. Coach Ryan's motivational speech set the perfect tone for a great afternoon of racing, the Tennyson Tigers won lots of place ribbons, and, a beaver decided to join in the action!

Here are some results that I have heard (please feel free to send more results or photos to [email protected]):

  • Gr 7 girls : Delphine - 4, Lily - 5, Rebecca - 9, Bridget - 13
  • Gr 7 boys: Chris - 5, Zacharias - 10
  • Gr 6 boys: Jack - 6, Tyler - 8, Graeme - 10
  • Gr 5 girls: Eliza - 5
  • Gr 5 boys: Alex - 9
  • Gr 4 boys: Asa - 2, Nathaniel - 8, Callum - 9
  • Gr 4 girls: Molly - 5, Alisa - 8, Gwendolin, 9
  • Gr 3 boys: Grayson - 1, Liam - 3
  • Gr 2 boys: Eli - 8
  • Gr 1/K girls: Claudia - 1
  • Gr 1/K boys: Anders - 8

And, about that beaver. As if the Grade 3 girl's race couldn't get any more exciting, a beaver decided to saunter out of the lake to see what all the cheering was about. Thanks Junko for the video of the unexpected appearance.

Hello ... thanks for all of the support and organization that is going into the practices and meets. I would like to raise an issue of the order of the races. I would like to re-think the order of the races. Since we started, to my knowledge, in each grade level, the boys have always run first, and girls second. It would be nice to see this order switched for some of the meets. To my mind, there is no reason that boys should always run first. Please consider altering this order, at least some of the time. thanks, asa
