Do your kids want to skate fast? Come try out short track speed skating!
The Vancouver Speed Skating Club has an established tradition of recruiting Tennyson Tigers for it’s small and friendly club. Skaters participate for fun and fitness and some choose to train for competition at Speed Skate Canada sanctioned events. Some of our skaters speed skate to supplement their hockey or figure skating, for others, speed skating is their primary sport.
Practices are at family friendly times and a handy location (Wednesday late afternoon and Sunday evening at Kits rink) and formal racing with other clubs is entirely optional, but really fun!
Drop-ins available on Sunday, February 28 and Sunday, March 13. Click the “Try Speed Skating” box on the web homepage to sign up. (Yes, that is a Tennyson alumni on the homepage taking the lead in his race!)
All ages welcome and all that is needed to start out is the ability to get across the ice from one end of the rink to the other unassisted (falling and getting back up is totally OK!).
