Organizers of the Vancouver Climate Strike were expecting about 15,000 people and were amazed when a crowd of 100,000 young people and adults marched from City Hall across the Cambie Street Bridge to the library in downtown Vancouver. During the march, protesters loudly shared Greta Thunberg's message "Listen to the science."
At their first meeting of the year on September 23, the Vancouver School Board declared the climate crisis an emergency and passed a motion supporting students' advocacy efforts sanctioning students' attendance at the Climate Action Strike. As well as supporting schools in engaging students about climate change, many Tennyson classes spent time last week discussing the climate action movement and what we can do at home to help the environment.
