Peer Tutoring at Tennyson

Peer Tutoring is a wonderful program here at Tennyson with a long standing tradition. For the past twenty years, Grade 6 students have been tutoring their Grade 3 peers in French reading and writing.  With the guidance of Tennyson resource teacher and parent volunteer monitors,  the Grade 6 students have read with their younger peers and then helped them with their written responses all in French.  The Grade 3 students also receive kind and specific feedback which then motivates them to improve their French language skills.  Peer tutoring is beneficial to our students by providing them with an amazing opportunity to share ideas, organize learning activities, collaborate with each other and make friendships that extend beyond the classroom.

The program runs on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9 to 9:30 am in the library from October 2, 2018 year-round.
 
We are looking for French speaking parent volunteers on one or two of these days for the half an hour in the morning.  We will provide training. If you are interested, please let Mme Regina Vosahlo know as soon as possible at [email protected] or in person at my office at Tennyson.
