Thanks to Yoyomama Vancouver for the following description:
We’re particularly excited to check out yoyomama’s favourite “worst mom in the world” Lenore Skenazy on March 7th. You’ll remember she got that title when she was hounded by American media for being the mom who let her 9-year-old take the New York subway alone. The experience inspired her to write “Free Range Kids”, a book that re-examines how at risk our kids really are on an everyday basis. Other speakers in the four part series include Sheryl Feinstein on the adolescent brain, Deborah McNamara on the lost art of play, and Lisa Bloom on raising smart kids for the new millennium (you might remember her from when she appeared on Dr. Phil last year to talk about her book, Swagger: 10 Urgent Rules for Raising Boys in an Era of Failing Schools, Mass Joblessness and Thug Culture).
PEP talks will be hosted at the Vancouver Playhouse Theatre on March 7th, April 10th, May 15th, and June 12th, at 7:30 pm, and ticket prices are either $130 for the entire series, or $35 per speaker (don’t forget, net proceeds go to support the Vancouver International Children’s Festival, which gets started on May 27th). Think of it as an evening out for your brain with the bonus that you’ll be supporting a fantastic charity: gotta say, we’re feeling peppier already!
