4-H @ Home returns with ‘Discover Dairy!’

5/27/2026

4‑H BC, in partnership with BC Dairy, is excited to continue this fun collaboration by offering another 4‑H @ Home course—an innovative online initiative that invites youth across the province to engage in hands‑on learning experiences from the comfort of their homes. This program is an excellent opportunity for young people aged 9 to 15 to explore the vibrant world of 4‑H, even if there is no active 4‑H club nearby.

The 4-H @ Home Discover Diary project starts May 20th and runs 6 consecutive Wednesday evenings at 4:00. Thanks to the generous support of BC Dairy, participation in this project is free! The class size is limited, so interested participants are encouraged to register soon.

The Discover Dairy project will take participants on a journey through the complete dairy cycle. Participants will have the unique opportunity to meet real dairy farmers, learn about essential cow care practices, understand how milk travels from farm to fridge, and even dive into the basics of cheese tasting and more!

**Who Should Join?**
The Discover Dairy project is perfect for youth aged 9 – 15  who are curious about farm life in BC, and how our food makes its way from the farm to our tables. No cow or prior knowledge is required—just a passion for learning and exploration!

For more information and to register, please visit www.4hbc.ca/4-h-home or call 1-866-776-0373.

**About 4-H BC**
4-H BC is a non profit youth organization dedicated to empowering youth through hands-on learning experiences that foster leadership, responsibility, and community involvement. Our programs inspire young people to develop life skills while exploring their interests and passions.

**About BC Dairy**

Historia Strategy Summer Camp

5/4/2026

My name is Ahmed Rahim, and I’m a certified teacher with experience running a district gifted program in Vancouver and working with students from Grades 3–12. I’m reaching out to share a unique summer camp opportunity that may be a great fit for interested students in your school community.

This summer, I’m running a 5-day “Choose-Your-Own-Adventure Strategy Camp” for students entering Grades 5–8 in September.

Historia is a face-to-face game (no passive screen time) in which students work in teams to build and run their own civilization—making decisions that shape their success, forming alliances, managing resources, and working through real challenges together. Every decision matters—and helps students build confidence, collaboration skills, independent thinking, and leadership.

Program Details:
  • Dates: July 6-10, 2026 OR July 13-17, 2026
  • Time: 9AM to 3PM (with body breaks and time for lunch and play outside)
  • Location: General Gordon Elementary, 2268 Bayswater St., Vancouver
  • Cost: $449 per child

When Our Children Hurt Inside: Nurturing Awareness and the Power of Relationships

4/28/2026

May 7th is National Child & Youth Mental Health Day—a day when we focus on letting our kids know just how seen, heard, valued and LOVED they are. FamilySmart leads this day with the message of "I Care About You," and focuses on the importance of creating caring connections between young people and the caring adults in their lives.  May 7th is a gentle reminder that even the smallest moments of connection—like a quick check-in, playing a video game, reading a book, sharing a surprise laugh, or simply listening—can make a world of difference in a child's life.

We truly value how much you do. FamilySmart wants to offer a little extra support, a new perspective maybe, or a new skill, to make those daily conversations with the young people you care about a little easier.

This May 7th, we will be hosting a heartfelt online conversation with Katie DeReus. Katie is a registered clinical counsellor and an elementary school counsellor who understands just how much these moments matter. She’ll be talking about children under 12 who are going through deep emotional pain. Katie will share messages of hope, helping us understand why our little ones sometimes feel so much distress, and how meaningful connection can help them feel safe and supported.

If you are a parent, caregiver, or a caring adult for a child who is struggling right now, please know we see you, and we know it’s hard. We would love for you to join us.
