As well as providing empirical evidence for why Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) has been incorporated into the school curriculum, Dr Schonert-Reichl also explained how SEL programs like Roots of Empathy and Mind-up which are being used by many Tennyson teachers, are having a positive impact on student's well-being and even grades.
Of course so much SEL happens at home, so Kim also explained what we can do to help our children, and provided links to tons of online resources for fun activities and useful tools in her presentation and the handouts below.
- Acts of Kindness Activities
- Kindness Booklet “Fostering Children’s Compassion and Empathy” Suggestions for Parents and Caregivers
- Schools families and social and emotional learning

Thank you Karen for bringing another excellent speaker to our school. You're awesome!
