Street Fleet - Division 8 Sock Drive Update

3/28/2021

We collected 625 pairs of socks!

Thank you for your amazing support of the Division 8 Sock Drive! In just 2 weeks they collected a whopping 625 pairs of socks for the Street Feet Society who will distribute them to friends on the DTES!

Tannis from Street Feet posted the following on Instagram.

“We could not be more proud of these youngsters. We are endlessly inspired by the way our youth continue to show up and passionately engage in social justice practices in their communities once they find out how they can help. That is why it is so important to continue to EDUCATE and EMPOWER youth to use their power to help others in need. Because in the words of Maya Angelou, when you know better, you do better.”

The student’s passion for this project was inspiring, and your generosity was heartwarming.

I have my latest book out called SOCKS, your sock drive I just saw on facebook: would you like to obtain a copy: I visited you school for a book workshop back in April 5th 2005 with my book You You & You, anyways Socks, :It’s about a young girl who embraced being different by simply wearing her preferred socks in school despite the authorities calling her out ( and even her parents). It’s a great book to teach children that being different, being yourself, is more than okay- it’s what we should all do, young and old. Let me know: I can mail a copy for a total of $22.00
